Past Simple/Continuous video game.

This idea isn’t mine, but I find it very interesting, easy and good.

You need to choose a video (prefarable without speech). I recommend to choose one that your student likes to watch, a cartoon, comedy show or something else. I can recommend Mr Bean episodes like this one or a cartoon (like this one).

Then while watching you need to stop the video and ask your student to retell the plot and events which happened in the episode. You can ask questions like: What happened? What the character was doing? If your students doesn’t have a big vocabulary you can prepare a wordlist of verbs and other useful words that will help the student to answer your questions.

Notice that your student can also ask you questions and stop the video! This way it will be like a competition and more fun.
